Pte. Faivel Zavadsky, 143rd Battalion, decorated by Russian General with St. Greorge's Cross. To elude the advancing Germans in Belgium in 1914 and to convey, after many adventures, much valuable information of the enemy, particularly with regard to his guns, as to lead to his being awarded the St. George's Cross which he now proudly wears, to serve with the Russians through the advance into East Prussia and the disastrous reteat, in the course of which he miraculously escaped from the treacherous Pripet Marshes. Read more here.
