COMES FROM CHINA TO JOIN BANTAMS

Amoung the recruits enlisted yesterday, by the 143rd Battalion, was one who travelled some thousands of miles to join. He arrived yesterday afternoon from Shanghai, China the Nippon Yusen Kaisha liner Awa Maru. The recruiting officer of the battalion met the liner and while in conversation with Mr. Wm.B. Smith, learned that he had been waiting for many long months for this opportunity to get into an overseas battalion.  Read more here.
